Looks like the round of spy pics has made its way to the world wide web, and now for the first time we can see the first spy shot of Proton’s new baby, the Persona R. Thanks to Auto Insider Malaysia blog clan Funtastiko Design, the spy pics of Persona R was caught testing on highway here in Malaysia most probably doing its vehicle reliability test and component test.


The Persona R which was reported to be running on the new Proton CFE Turbo engine with CVT transmission has been rumoured to be launched in the first half of next year and based on inside sources, this new Proton Persona R will features new equipment levels that has not been seen in current Proton’s model line up. If you remember during the launch of Proton Inspira, Proton’s Dato’ MD has stated why the name of Inspira was chosen, it is because this Mitsubishi based Proton Inspira will be the inspiration for Proton to produce a better quality and a better equip car.


So far based on the previous reports flooding the internet of Proton’s prototype being spotted at Bosch Proving Ground in Sweden, the Bosch Proving ground is use to test all ABS, EBD, Traction Control and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) related safety item, thus we can safely assume that the future Proton vehicles especially the Persona R might feature this technology of TC and ESC. So guys, equip yourself with a camera always, as the days of spy pics and rounds of testing of Persona R will be more intensified soon!!

The engines?s bore and stroke both measure 86.0 mm, which engineers refer to as square. According to Mitsubishi, the new cylinder dimensions contribute to a free-revving character (6,500 rpm redline, 8000 rpm final), linear power delivery and wide torque curve. Mitsubishi used a timing chain instead of a belt for better reliability, iridium spark plugs to lower emissions and to help extend major service intervals for lower cost of ownership. To reduce weight, Mitsubishi used a plastic cam cover and intake manifold and double-layer stainless steel exhaust manifold. The exhaust manifold has a rear location on the transverse engine, compared to the front location for the previous engine, yielding important benefits such as better emissions performance. To lower vibration, Mitsubishi used a 4-point inertial axis system with cylindrical hydraulic engine mounts on the left and right sides. A lightweight, high-rigidity squeeze-cast aluminium bracket on the right side mount (engine side) lowers engine noise under acceleration. A lightweight, high-rigidity steel plate bracket on the left side mount (transmission side) lowers gear noise. A custom-tuned insulator was developed for the front and rear mounts to help control both idle vibration and acceleration shoc....
